Ceramic Fusion Art is a title that we dreamt up to encompass the huge diversity of the medium of ceramics. It is a process that is as old as the hills and as current as an artist potter's imagination.
Peter Holland and Tony Young have been working in and around the UK ceramics industry for decades now. (longer than we care to remember) We have seen the awful collapse of the Stoke on Trent ceramic industry in recent years and have rejoiced in the new hope that is coming from the city with the best of the surviving firms there making the most of the skills of both the workers and designers.
Stoke rightly keeps the crown as the centre of industrial ceramics in England but there have always been many other areas where pottery has thrived. Studio potters have never had a location specific need relying more on finding somewhere that can help to feed their creative energy.
The new world in the early 21st century is making it harder to justify traditional thinking and reputation is no guarantee of quality. Comparisons with anything in the world can be made in seconds on the web so contemporary ceramic artists and companies have to be sure that they are making something of value that is honest and individual, personal to them. There will always be copyists but the best of new design always stays ahead.
We love ceramics in all its forms and wanted to bring our personal selection of the best that we know, in the form of this website. We have no criterion other than the ceramics should be made in the UK
We are actively seeking out artists, small firms and large firms to promote on our site. If you have come across us and like what we are doing, we would love to hear from you. If you are a potter and want to be featured or you have a favourite that is not mentioned, please let us know.
